About Bellevue ARC
Our Story, Mission, and Commitment to the Community
Our History
Bellevue ARC was founded in 1952 by a group of parents who were determined to create better opportunities for their children with intellectual and developmental disabilities. What began as a small grassroots organization has grown into a comprehensive service provider that supports hundreds of individuals and families in the Bellevue area.
Over the decades, we have evolved to meet changing needs and embrace new philosophies of care. We have moved from institutional models to community-based services, always keeping the individual at the center of everything we do.
Our Mission
Bellevue ARC advocates for and provides support to children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities so they may achieve their fullest potential and participate as members of the community.
Our Vision
We envision a community where people with intellectual and developmental disabilities are valued, respected, and included as contributing members with the same rights, responsibilities, and opportunities as all citizens.
Our Values
- Dignity and Respect: We treat every individual with dignity and respect, honoring their choices and preferences.
- Independence: We support individuals to achieve the highest level of independence possible in all areas of their lives.
